Last night, Doctor Who made a triumphant return with a solid Season 10 premiere titled "The Pilot" that introduced the Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) newest companion, Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie).

But it’s the “next time” and “coming soon” trailers shown at the end of the episode that got my level of excitement to shoot through the roof when they revealed our first look at John Simm back as the Master!

First things first: next week’s episode, titled “Smile,” will feature the Doctor and Bill traveling to one of Earth’s first colonies where they meet some cute emojibots that I’m sure will turn out to be much more sinister than what they appear. Here’s a synopsis for the episode:

In the far future, at the edge of the galaxy, there is a gleaming, perfect city. This brand new human settlement is said to hold the secret of human happiness – but the only smiles the Doctor and Bill can find are on a pile of grinning skulls.

Something is alive in the walls, and the emojibots are watching from the shadows, as the Doctor and Bill trying to unravel a terrifying mystery…

As for the coming soon trailer, we get a fresh new look at The Mondosian Cybermen! The Ice Warriors! Michelle Gomez as Missy! (Yassss!) A bearded John Simm as the Master! (Yassss!) And, doth my eyes deceive me, or is that the Doctor regenerating?! Wait, Whhaaa? Dude is wearing a different coat, though ...

Dig into the sneak peeks below, and let us know what you think. Are you excited about John Simm’s return? What did you think of “The Pilot”?
