When news broke that Doctor Who star Tom Baker would be joining the third season of Star Wars Rebels, the whole of geekdom exploded with glee. Ahead of the return of the animated series set in a galaxy far, far away, a new clip featuring Baker’s Star Wars character has been unleashed.

Baker (who played the beloved Fourth Doctor from 1974 to 1981 on the BBC series) plays the Bendu, who is described as a “large, wise and bull-like creature” that is strong with the Force but is neither a Jedi nor an evil Sith but rather in between. The character is said to become important to Kanan’s (Freddie Prinze Jr.) journey, Ezra’s (Taylor Gray) Jedi master and a member of the fledgling Rebel Alliance, who has been blinded by Darth Maul (Sam Witwer) during the Season 2 finale.

Here’s what Baker told USA Today about his character:

“The Bendu is described as a “life force,” which is something we haven’t really seen before in Star Wars. He’s not the dark side or the light — he’s something greater.”

Season 3 of Star Wars Rebels will premiere on Sept. 24 on Disney XD.
