The doll from hell (and I'm putting this mildly) is back in this first announcement trailer for Annabelle 2.
Directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Aquaman), the movie stars Mirando Otto (The Lord of the Rings, 24: Legacy), Anthony LaPaglia (The Code), Lulu Wilson (Ouija: Origin of Evil), Stephanie Sigman (Spectre) and Alicia Vela-Bailey (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). The screenplay was penned by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle, It).
Annabelle 2 is a sequel/prequel to Annabelle, which was helmed by John R. Leonetti (The Butterfly Effect 2) and was a spinoff of director James Wan's The Conjuring. Here’s a synopsis for the movie:
Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker's possessed creation, Annabelle.
In the chilling trailer below, Mirando Otto’s character (armed with a cross and a bible) walks in on a very sinister tea party between Annabelle (that doll is really freaking me out) and a little girl. From the synopsis and the hairstyle, it definitely looks like this is indeed a prequel to Annabelle.
Annabelle 2 will premiere on May 19, 2017.
