Former Harry Potter star Domhnall Gleeson is talking about embarking on a journey to a galaxy far, far away.
While interviewing with Ray Darcy on Dublin radio 2FM, the Irish actor -- and son of the great Brendan Gleeson -- revealed that he found out he got the part only on the day before the table read. Talk about short notice!
Here’s what the actor said about being cast in director J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII:
“I'm still struggling to come to terms with it,” Gleeson admitted. “It all happened really quickly for me. It was like the day before and then I'm at a table reading with Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. It was madness, but it was great.”
When quizzed whether he was playing Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) son in the eagerly anticipated Star Wars sequel, Gleeson remained quite mum. No doubt the good folks over at Disney have snipers at the ready in case anyone wants to blab about the film.
“I'm afraid if I say anything I'll give away the plot of the whole movie. I've got two years of this ahead of me. The movie is released in December 2015 -- that's the amount of time I have to keep my mouth shut!”
It seems that there’s a popular theory that speculates that Gleeson is indeed playing Skywalker’s son, but that he may be joining fellow new cast member Adam Driver (Girls) on the dark side.
So, what do you guys think? Do you have an idea as to whom Domhnall Gleeson is playing on Star Wars: Episode VII? And more importantly: Will the Force be with him?
