“Something got loose. We don’t know how. It ended up here. We’re not sure why. This is why I’ve come home. To save you.”

AMC has unleashed an intriguing new teaser trailer for its hotly anticipated Preacher series.

The 10-episode new TV series is an adaptation of the controversial Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon cult DC/Vertigo comics series Preacher -- which ran from 1995 to 2000 -- and is being adapted for the small screen courtesy of the dynamic duo of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

With Dominic Cooper in the title role of Jesse Custer, Ruth Nega as his former GF Tulip O’Hare and Joseph Gilgun as the Irish vampire Cassidy, the upcoming supernatural drama series also stars Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon, Jackie Earle Hayley as Odin Quincannon, W. Earl Brown as Sherriff Root, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson in the roles of Betsy and Donny Schenck and Ian Colletti as Eugene/Arseface.

Talking about Areseface, after he made his debut last week with that first promo image, the beloved character is seen here “in action” for the first time. Have a look at the new teaser for Preacher.

Here's a synopsis for AMC's new series:

Preacher is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

Preacher will premiere May 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. Will you be tuning in?
