Despite the fact that it was awesome, Karl Urban’s big-screen Dredd reboot was a major box-office bomb. But that doesn’t mean a sequel is completely off the table — at least according to the Judge himself.

In an interview with Collider, Urban discussed the odds for a sequel and said he actually had a recent meeting with writer Alex Garland about the project. The brutal action flick might’ve just netted a meager $13 million at the box office, but it’s found a new life on DVD.

Considering the newfound fans, Urban said he believes a sequel could definitely still happen. You know, assuming the fans keep asking for it:

“Interestingly enough, I did have breakfast with Alex Garland this morning.  It’s not off the agenda. Clearly everyone has woken up to the fact that an audience has found this movie and loves it. It’s entirely possible, and if people want to see another installment then they should be vocal about that, because, it can happen. The power of fandom can resurrect projects.  In fact, that’s what happened with Star Trek. They weren’t going to do a third season until fans did a letter writing campaign and they continued that series.”

First off, Urban’s geeky fan campaign name-drop is admirable, but he has a point. In a world where you can kickstart just about anything, this one won’t be over until we’re all out wandering on the Cursed Earth.

Would you like to see a Dredd sequel someday, or should they just let the franchise die in peace?
