Everyone's itching for Super Bowl Sunday to hurry and get here, if not for the game then for the exclusive TV spots promoting the year's biggest films. One of the most elusive is Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy; apparently there have been rumors that the studio would premiere footage during the big game. But according to director James Gunn, it isn't happening.
As a matter of fact, Gunn posted the following message on his Facebook page denouncing any Super Bowl plans.
Although I announced it on Twitter, I'm still getting questions about it on FB, so I thought I'd share here as well - the news reports of there being a Guardians of the Galaxy Super Bowl spot are incorrect. So if you're a fan planning on sitting through hours of football only to get your #GotG fix - don't! I know many of you are dying for a glimpse into the universe we're creating - believe me, I hear you loud and clear hundreds of times a day, and I am dying even more to share it with you - IT'S KILLING ME THAT I CAN'T SHOW YOU A GLIMPSE - but Marvel and Disney have had a plan in place for a long time for the rollout of these characters in the biggest and best way possible, serving the widest audience as possible. Trust that they know what they're doing, as they've been through this a few times before. And please be patient. Your enthusiasm, as always, is more than appreciated.
Well, there you have it. The truth straight from the horse's mouth. We're not sure when we'll get a Guardians trailer, but Feb. 2 won't be it.
