Everyone can exhale now. You know that story about Demi Lovato nabbing a role in the upcoming Avengers movie? Well, it's not true.
The Hollywood Reporter has quickly debunked an earlier report that the Disney star, who's currently doing a stint in rehab, was gearing up to play an undisclosed role in the Marvel superhero behemoth, which begins shooting this April for a summer 2012 release. Fans (Marvel's, not Demi's) were immediately up in arms about the possibility, but sources in both the Lovato and Marvel camps adamantly denied the story.
However, the Reporter does say that Marvel is still looking to cast another female part in the movie, although it doesn't name the character. With the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) the only confirmed woman in the picture, does this mean that Marvel is looking to cast Janet van Dyne—aka the Wasp—as rumored? After all, she IS a founding member of the Avengers. And if the Wasp does make the movie, doesn't that mean that Ant Man (Hank Pym) will make an appearance as well?
Marvel is playing the whole thing close to the vest as usual. In the meantime, Avengers fans can start 2011 off on a positive note, now that we know Demi Lovato isn't going anywhere near this project.
