In a potentially fantastic case of fantasy worlds colliding, Dorothy of Oz and Alice of Wonderland are teaming up together in a new film over at Netflix.

The spec script Dorothy & Alice just landed at the streaming site, after a heated bidding war over the rights. It's written by Justin Merz, an English teacher who also wrote The Boxcar Children and worked on the script for upcoming Snow White movie, Rose Red.

Here's the logline for Dorothy & Alice:

Haunted by nightmares of Oz’s impending destruction, Dorothy Gale finds herself in a home for others like her with troubling, vivid dreams. While she is there, she meets a mysterious girl, Alice – who involves her in a perilous quest to not only save the worlds of imagination — those which we come to realize are real and not just dreams — but the world as we know it.

The Hunger Games franchise producer Bryan Unkeless, whose latest film I, Tonya is generating Oscar buzz, will produce Dorothy & Alice, with an eye toward another franchise.
