To know Dragon Con is to know amazing, inspired, joyful -- and sometimes bizarre, and kinky -- cosplay. The annual nerd fest that takes place in Atlanta, Ga., every year over Labor Day weekend celebrated its 30th anniversary this past weekend, and the crowds approaching 100,000 swarmed the city streets, as well as the lobbies and ballrooms of five participating hotels.
As someone who professionally attends cons across the world as a guest and moderator, I can honestly say there's no concentration of brilliant cosplay and crossplay that quite matches DC. From current nerd culture entries (Stranger Things, Star Wars Episode VII, Ghostbusters 2016, Suicide Squad) to classics (Silverhawks, The Little Mermaid, Labyrinth, Big Trouble in Little China) to mashups (Prince Power Ranger, Beetlejuice Ghostbuster, V for VenDeadpool, Tony of House Stark) to original creations, all manner of fandom was represented.
And I wanted to share it with you via our monster cosplay gallery.
Once again, Blastr partnered with the good folks at Conography for a lionshare of pics. I also added some of my own pics, and enlisted our contributor Henry Hanks to do the same (those photos are the ones that look less professional!). So, settle in and take some time to relive Dragon Con 2016 through the lens of Blastr and Conography. And to check out more from Conography, head to their Facebook page.
