Dream Casting is an imaginative look at the casting process of potential Hollywood projects based on comics and other media. This isn't just about what is being made; this is about what should be made, and who we think should be the stars.
Alabaster is the creation of writer Caitlin Kiernan, featuring the adventures of Dancy Flammarion, a teenager from the American South who's empowered by a terrifying angel to fight monsters whether she wants to or not. It would make a great TV series, following Dancy as she encounters unending horrors across a desolate America.
I'm focusing on the characters from Alabaster: Wolves, a comic that Kiernan did with Steve Lieber on art. However, this would only be the first 8- or 10-episode season of the show, which could then continue into the further adventures of Dancy, Maisie, and the Bird.
Taylor Hickson as Dancy Flammarion
Make her as pale as possible, scruff her up a bit, and Taylor Hickson (Deadly Class) will have the perfect look for Dancy. She also has the acting chops to play the tortured teen monster hunter.
Tim Blake Nelson as the Bird
Tim Blake Nelson (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) is one of the all-time great character actors, and his southern drawl will sound great coming from a normal-looking blackbird.
Amber Midthunder as Maisie
Amber Midthunder (Legion) will bring her own unique energy and charisma to the table as the werewolf girl who forms a bond with Dancy.
Abbey Lee as the Angel
Abbey Lee (The Neon Demon) often employs her beauty in the pursuit of being creepy, but she'll look creepier than ever making four different faces at once through the miracle of digital effects.
Riz Ahmed as Culhwch
Riz Ahmed (Rogue One) is full of natural charisma, which he can put to insidious use as a cult leader turned werewolf.
Christopher Lloyd as the Shopkeeper
At his current age, Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) makes an ideal creepy old man, which is exactly what this character needs to be.
Lily Newmark as the Panther Girl
Lily Newmark (Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story) has a unique look that will work perfectly for what appears to be a scared young woman in a cage who conceals the dangerous creature within her.
