Dredd is back in first full trailer for Adi Shankar's bootleg animated miniseries

The wait continues for a full-fledged sequel to the stellar 2012 sci-fi action flick Dredd, but producer Adi Shankar got tired of waiting and decided to make this. It looks weird, but kind of awesome.

Along with working on actual feature films, Shankar has also made a name for himself with his “bootleg” series of unofficial spinoff shorts based on franchises such as The Punisher and Venom. His latest “bootleg” is dubbed Judge Dredd: Superfiend, and it looks like an R-rated, super-trippy animated spin on the comic universe.

Here’s Shankar’s intro to the first trailer:

I thought I'd give my friends (I mean that figuratively as I don't know anyone at Marvel) at Marvel a break and myself a taste of my own medicine by "bootlegging" Judge Dredd. Just so that we are clear, this is a different interpretation of the character and the universe, an interpretation that is family friendly and geared towards little children.
