Netflix is getting into the zombie game with a new series and they've released the first hilarious trailer.
Santa Clarita Diet stars Drew Barrymore in the role of Sheila Hammond, a suburban realtor, wife and mother to Abby (Liv Hewson, Dramaworld) who undergoes a "dramatic change" when she dies and becomes a zombie with a craving for human flesh. She's married to Joel (Timothy Olyphant), who decides to stick with his wife despite her undead status ... and commences with pulling a Dexter.
By that I mean instead of her eating random people, they come up with a plan so that only those who deserve it — the prototype being "a young, single Hitler" — become zombie food.
Not a bad plan. Unless you get caught burying bloody body parts, that is. You guys know the saying: The family who slays together, stays together, right?
Created by Victor Fresco (My Name is Earl, Better Off Ted), the 13-episode dark comedy series also features some geektastic guest stars in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Patton Oswalt and Captain Malcolm Reynolds himself, Nathan Fillion. How big of a role will Fillion have in the series? I hope it's more than just one guest appearance where he ends up becoming food.
Here's the official synopsis for Santa Clarita Diet:
Joel and Sheila Hammond are realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita until Sheila goes through a dramatic change that sends both their lives down a road of death and destruction … but in a good way.
Santa Clarita Diet will premiere Feb. 3 on Netflix.
