Dum da-dum! Beloved sci-fi score voted best soundtrack ever

The folks at the BBC set out to name the greatest film score according to the fans, and wouldn’t you know it, a sci-fi classic took the top prize.

Not surprisingly, John Williams’ iconic Star Wars main theme earned almost a quarter of the votes in the BBC 3 U.K. poll of potential favorites — beating out cinema classic such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Grease, The Sound of Music and Apocalypse Now.

Oddly enough, apart from the Star Wars win, there weren’t a ton of sci-fi projects represented on the Top 20 — though Hans Zimmer’s score for The Dark Knight Rises did crack the list at No. 7.
