The first clip from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new Hercules flick has landed … and it’s exactly what we expected. But is that a good thing?

Directed by Brett Ratner, the film focuses on an older Hercules and looks to be a bigger-budget affair than that recent box-office dud Legend of Hercules. Judging by the first clip, the action will be epic, and if nothing else they know how to stage a good-looking set piece.

But we’ve got to admit, it does look a teensy bit cheesy. I mean, there’s just something about that headgear that doesn’t look quite right. Regardless, the footage here looks sharp, and we are curious to see more from the story, which finds a retired Hercules coming back for one last adventure.

The movie also stars Joseph Fiennes, Ian McShane, John Hurt and Rufus Sewell. Hercules opens wide on July 25.
