Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently chatted with MTV’s Josh Horowitz while the actor was on the red carpet for the 87th Academy Awards, and the Fast & Furious star gave an exciting — if surprising — update on the upcoming DC superhero movie Shazam.
Johnson, who is set to play the flick’s supervillain Black Adam, revealed that we might get to see Shazam earlier than was originally expected. The film — which’ll be part of the DC cinematic universe at large — was originally scheduled to be released in 2019, but now? We might not have to wait that long to see "The Rock" rocking it (pun intended) as Black Adam.
“You know, it may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted. The script is coming in, it's great. The support from the studio has been great. And it is just a great opportunity especially with Black Adam where you can take a guy that starts off as bad guy turns into an anti-hero. We can make him vicious; a little bit of winking charm.”

Shazam is currently set to be released on April 5, 2019. There's still no director attached to the project, and Johnson is the only cast member announced and confirmed for the DC comic book flick. How much sooner d’you guys think we’ll get to see it?
