Looks like the rumors of who's playing Ant-Man were wrong.
Word has been circulating this week that The Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer was spotted on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. What's more, some said he was on the set alongside Ant-Man director Edgar Wright, leading to speculation that he'd already been cast in the leading role of the forthcoming Ant-Man flick. A somewhat cryptic interview with Hammer, in which he said he was just visiting a friend on the set, added fuel to the fire, but Ant-Man's director seems more than willing to kill this rumor before it gets any more steam.
On Tuesday, Wright took to Twitter to let everyone know he had no idea what they were talking about.
But... I haven't been on the Cap 2 set...— edgarwright (@edgarwright) June 25, 2013
Or met Mr. Hammer...— edgarwright (@edgarwright) June 25, 2013
I am pretty sure I have been in a dark room in London this whole time.— edgarwright (@edgarwright) June 25, 2013
That "dark room" Wright's referring to seems to be the editing bay for his new film The World's End, which he tweeted a photo from shortly before the Hammer/Cap 2 tweets were posted. So, unless he's just outright lying to us, it seems Wright has put this rumor to bed.
