Though the weather doesn’t always agree, we are now fully immersed in the 2018 Summer Movie Season. If you still think it’s technically springtime, just ask Thanos – he’ll set you straight.
As such, there’s a heap of blockbusters vying for your attention, and many ticket buying choices to be made. So the genius marketers at Disney-Pixar have presented this alluring new Incredibles 2 spot, just to get you excited for the fact that you can now purchase tickets for the 10-years-in-the-making sequel, even though it doesn’t open for another month. Friyay! indeed.
The spot focuses on Helen Parr/Elastigirl’s (Helen Hunt) new role as the public face of the Supers program, aka an “advocate for superheroes,” as Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) tries to explain to their super kids, Violet (Sarah Vowell) and Dash (Huck Milner). Alas, Violet is also super smart, and wisely points out that super-heroing is still quite illegal.
You we’re probably going to see Incredibles 2 before you saw this fine spot, but just the same, if you’re all-the-more pumped, you now have many Incredible ticket purchasing options. One of the most intriguing has to be the just-announced IMAX double feature, happening only on Wednesday June 13, two days before Incredibles 2 opens wide. The double feature will also show Brad Bird’s original Incredibles for the first time on IMAX, and doling out some commemorative mini posters while they're at it.
Early reports have recommended a good rewatch of the original before heading into the sequel too, so that double feature is doubly alluring. And the bigger the better is always the case with a Disney-Pixar movie, though it will be interesting to see some of the Incredible advances the company’s animation has made in 10 years, which an IMAX screen will likely make all the more glaring.
