Eli Roth to direct Jack Black in YA gothic horror The House with a Clock in its Walls

Ermahgerd! Eli Roth is teaming up with Jack Black for Amblin Entertainment and Mythology Entertainment’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls, with Roth directing and Black starring.

According to Deadline, the movie penned by Supernatural’s Eric Kripke is an adaptation of John Bellairs’ 1973 book, illustrated by Edward Gorey. Kripke will produce alongside Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt, with William Sherak, Tracey Nyberg and Laeta Kalogridis acting as executive producers.

Part of a 12-book series, The House with a Clock in Its Walls is a gothic horror novel primarily aimed for kids. The story “tells the tale of a recently orphaned 10-year-old boy who discovers a world of hidden passageways, magic and danger in his uncle’s old house.”

Having starred in Inglourious Basterds, Eli Roth is primarily known for his work on several horror films including Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno and Knock, Knock. He recently finish filming his Death Wish remake, starring Bruce Willis. As for Jack Black, the actor will soon be seen in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle when the movie opens in theaters Dec. 20. He also starred as R.L. Stine in 2015’s Goosebumps, and is a music legend thanks to Tenacious D.
