Plenty of snippets have given hints as to the crossover craziness in store for fans of The CW’s Arrowverse this year, with the Flash and Green Arrow swapping lives, the appearance of a few familiar (and unfamiliar) DC faces, and some definite mucking about in the alternate realities that are these shows’ bread and butter. Now, however, fans can get their first glimpse at the "Elseworlds" event’s primary plot, straight from the source.
In the latest official promo video from The CW, the speculated photographic details are extrapolated into moving pieces of plot and tension as fans might expect, especially if they’ve been staying abreast of all the teases distributed in the past few weeks. For those uninitiated, though, there’s some exciting stuff to see.
Check it out:
LaMonica Garrett’s the Monitor, the caretaker of the multiverse, appears in the video apparently explaining to Arkham Asylum’s Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davies) that he wants to see him flex his powers. “I offered you godhood,” the Monitor says in voiceover. “Show them what a real god can do.” As John Wesley Shipp’s ‘90s Flash laments that Deegan demolished his reality as well, it seems like this villain has been reality-hopping more than the multi-dimensional/alt-timeline folks over on The Flash.
It seems that Deegan found one of the Monitor’s powerful tomes, allowing him to rewrite reality — meaning that it’ll take Superman, Lois Lane, Batwoman, and wait — was that Killer Frost? — to stop him.
"Elseworlds" begins its three-night run through The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl on Dec. 9.
