If you're a fan of the Tomb Raider franchise's adventurous young aristocrat and recently followed her onto an uncharted Devil's Sea island in Roar Uthaug's rebooted feature film, then you might feel the need to explore more of how this latest Hollywood iteration of Lara Croft was crafted.

Starring Alicia Vikander as the treasure-seeking, tank-topped thrillseeker and adapted from Crystal Dynamics' revamped 2013 Tomb Raider video game, the $90 million movie is a satisfying romp into the Croft clan's zest for ancient artifacts and buried treasure.

'"I had a great time working on the Art and Making of Tomb Raider," Gosling told SYFY WIRE. "The best books are always the ones where the creative team are enthusiastic about being involved, and every department on the Tomb Raider production was incredibly helpful with their time and their resources. Director Roar Uthaug was always available to answer questions, despite being up to his eyes in actually making the film."

Gosling also recalls many fascinating chats with production designer Gary Freeman about his inspirations and cinematographer George Richmond on his creative process.

"One of my favourite sections of the book deals with how they shot the storm scene on the boat," she added. "The immense joint effort of all the departments that went into that one sequence is astonishing, not to mention the stamina required from the actors, who really had to be as intrepid as their characters in that scene. I hope I managed to do their work justice within the pages of the book."
