It's October 12. We're rounding out a dirty dozen podcasts with yet another horrific entry of Every Day Horror. Are you ready for some Peak horror? Are you feeling goth enough to keep going? Are you, uh... Guillermo del Toro?
Today's episode is Crimson Peak. I was trying to set it up with a funny bit. Obviously I was a huge success. I'm joined on this episode by host of the Maven of Eventide YouTube series Elisa Hansen. She's definitely goth enough to talk about Crimson Peak. She might even be a secret vampire. I definitely paid her to do this podcast with a vial of my own blood. Very normal stuff.
Crimson Peak is an entry in the del Toro ouvre. It's one of his less successful films and yet it's also arguably one of the best homages to gothic romance. Certainly it is the best movie starring Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain in which they play siblings who may or may not be incestuous. I might even go so far as to say that Crimon Peak is the movie that del Toro should've won all the fancy, self-congratulatory awards for.
What makes Crimson Peak better than you might've remembered? Listen to find out!
