It's October 28. As I type this, my partner is putting the finishing touches on our house and costumes before our Halloween party. She's dressed as the Murderous Mrs. Maisel and I am Lenny Bruce Campbell. It's a couple's costume that only three people will get. We're cool with it.
But what really matters is Every Day Horror, aka that podcast you've been listening to for the last four weeks. It's nearly over, but today, Pushing Up Roses brought a real treat: House of Wax (1953).
My costume may be obscure, but you know what isn't? Vincent Price. And House of Wax is a real classic in his oeuvre of playing sympathetic antagonists. House of Wax was also Paramount's first ever movie in 3D!
Is the 3D good? Are the deaths suitably grizzly? Is Vincent Price the best? I mean, the last question's answer is obviously 'yes,' but the only way to solve all of House of Wax's many other mysteries is to listen!
