It's October 23. That's one week to All Hallow's Eve's... eve. Is that a thing? It is now. I've made it a thing, and it is as glorious as a haunted house full of stupid teenagers who get possessed in bizarre and satisfying ways.
Today on Every Day Horror, Valerie Complex joins me to talk about the first horror movie she ever saw, Night of the Demons (1988). It's a good one and I'm a little surprised a Linnea Quigley joint didn't crop up on this podcast sooner. But I'll take my '80s trash wherever and whenever I can get it.
This is a classic sub-genre of horror: teens doing dumb things in a haunted house. Teens do a lot of dumb things in horror movies, but the distinction is that, in an '80s-era haunted house, people are inevitably gonna wind up having really jacked-up demon faces. And in the specific case of Night of the Demons, there's also gonna be some lipsticks going inside of nipples. Yeah, it's a lot.
Why would anyone let a child watch Night of the Demons? Why do we still love it to this day? The only way to find out is to listen in!
