Every Day Horror Day 19: The Wicker Man (1973)

Oct 19, 2018, 2:30 PM EDT

It's October 19. We're still watching horror movies, are you? Of course you are! You know that we've got to make sacrifices for our pagan gods. We've got to satisfy Samhain, both the original version and the cool dude with the pumpkin head from The Real Ghostbusters who wants to make Halloween last forever.

But here at Every Day Horror, we especially want to appease another Lord of Spoops: Christopher Lee. And that is why I sat down with the former host of Music Movies, Paul Schuler, to talk about one the best sorta-musical horror movies ever made: The Wicker Man (1973).

No. Not the Nic Cage one from 2006. Not the bees. Never the bees.

We're talking about one of the most seminal, "Christianity is hypocrisy" movies ever put to film, a movie in which a cop thinks he's saving a missing girl but he can't even save himself. Is it orgy o'clock? Hope so, because guess what's happening outside of ye olde inn? Hint: it's an orgy.

Don't be a fool. Learn everything about Lord Summerisle and his peoples before you wind up like Sergeant Howie by listening in!
