The first twisty trailer for Maze Runner: The Death Cure has dropped, and it features a pretty cool train sequence to kick off the franchise's final chapter.
Directed by Wes Ball (who helmed the first two movies: The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials), the third entry was written by T.S. Nowlin (who also penned the previous installments), based on the dystopian YA novel series by James Dashner.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure stars Teen Wolf's Dylan O’Brien (currently making a killing in American Assassin), Kaya Scodelario, Game of Thrones alum Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen (also a GoT alum), Barry Pepper, Will Poulter, Patricia Clarkson, and Walton Goggins (Justified and HBO’s hilarious Vice Principals).
After breaking out of the Last City at the end of the first film and spending the second on the run, Thomas (O’Brien) plans to break back into the place where they spent three years. Read up on the official synopsis before digging into the trailer below:
In the epic finale to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.
20th Century Fox's much-delayed (due to Dylan O'Brien's serious on-set injury last year) Maze Runner: The Death Cure opens Jan. 26, 2018.
