Gotham's overflow of villains continues with its latest casting. The drama will tap into the origin story of one of Batman's most well-known adversaries, Mr. Freeze. The role will be played by House of Cards alumni Nathan Darrow. He's expected to appear in multiple episodes as the character's dramatic story unfolds.

The man behind Mr. Freeze is the brilliant yet troubled Victor Fries. He's established as one of Gotham's premeire cryogenics engineers. It's the connection between his professional and personal life that causes him to go to the dark side.

"Though ferociously smart and eminently capable in his work, Victor struggles to make meaningful connections with others. The one exception is his wife, Nora, who has tragically fallen ill with a terminal disease. Victor’s love for Nora knows no bounds, and as her condition worsens, he goes to extreme measures to figure out a way to freeze her before she dies."

Unfortunately (HOW DARE YOU? - Ed.), the general public's most familiar with Arnold Schwarzenegger's portrayal of Mr. Freeze in 1997's Batman and Robin. Even though Gotham has its fair share of camp, I assume they won't take us down that road again. I don't think anyone can deal with his plethera of puns. Who can forget "Let's kick some ice?!" Or my personal favorite, "What killed the dinosaurs? The Ice Age!"

What do you think of Mr. Freeze coming to Gotham?
