A new trailer for the second season of HBO’s The Leftovers has arrived, and it points to a major change of direction (literally) for the supernatural mystery drama.

The series focuses on the humans left behind after approximately 2 percent of the Earth’s population disappears during a mysterious event. It’s a fascinating premise, and led to some tense (and often dour) hours of television this past year. For year two, it seems the focus will be shifting to a town in Texas that had zero “departures” (aka mysterious disappearances).

The new teaser trailer shows a massive pile of people headed to the small town of Jarden, in the hopes of finding some answers in regard to those who disappeared and those left behind (get it?). It’s a nice setup, and definitely fits the mysterious tone of the first season. Considering the project is masterminded by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and the book’s talented author, Tom Perrotta, that’s not much of a shock.
