Stephen Daldry and Ewan McGregor could be just the team-up we were looking for. The rumored director for the Obi-Wan Kenobi solo film coming down the Star Wars pike has yet to confirm or deny his involvement, but the actor who last played the title role has remained vocal about his desired involvement.
This spin-off doesn’t necessarily have an age barrier for the actor, as Solo’s origin story does for Harrison Ford, so fans (along with McGregor) hold out hope for their Obi-Wan’s return.
Speaking to press at the Golden Globes after a Best Actor win for Fargo, McGregor had a few Star Wars comments, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "There’s a lot of talk, and I’d be happy to play him again, but I don’t know anything more than you do," McGregor said.
McGregor might not know much about the project, but a photo surfaced on Saturday of the actor working out with a strikingly Kenobi-like beard. It's probably just a coincidence, but still, he's certainly looking the part.
Just take a look:
Is McGregor getting Jedi jacked for a role reprisal? His continued fandom for the Star Wars universe is, if anything, a positive indicator, as McGregor continued in the interview to note that not only had he seen The Last Jedi, but that he thought it “really, really beautiful.”
