After the momentous conclusion to IDW’s ROM series in issue #14, fans are waiting for word on when the Space Knight will return. We say 'when,' not 'if,' because given the success of the book and Rom's importance in the Hasbro-verse IDW has put together — he's a key part of the First Strike crossover — it wouldn't make much sense to sideline our armored hero for long.

Especially because we've been big fans of the silver-armored arbiter of justice for years and were especially excited about his return to comics.

SYFYWIRE interview with the creators of the new ROM comic from SDCC 2016

But while you wait for a new solo series to come to light, there is a special treat heading your way to tide you over: a showcase of legendary Rom comic book co-creator Sal Buscema’s return to one of his most iconic characters. Regular Rom readers know that issues #11 through #14 featured a back-up story, "Battle Scars!", written by Chris Ryall and Christos Gage with art by Buscema and Guy Dorian, Sr.

SYFY WIRE can exclusively reveal that those backup chapters are now being collected in a single comic, Rom: Tales of the Solstar Order #1 Special Edition, which hits comic shops in March.

Besides the story, the 40-page comic ($4.99 cover price) includes several extras, like bonus artwork and an interview with Buscema. We've got a look at some of the sweet art below. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!
