As DC Comics excellent pop-up imprint Young Animal winds down, that means we are near approaching the end of their excellent and innovative stories. Shade the Changing Woman, Cave Carson has an Interstellar Eye, Mother Panic: Gotham A.D. will come to a close at Issue #6 for all the titles, and then there's Eternity Girl, written by Magdalene Visaggio with art by Sonny Liew and colors by Chris Chuckry, which will end as planned as a six-issue miniseries.
If you've missed out on this series, it's one of the terrific reads of this year and yet another reason to track down all of the Young Animal books. After a life led as a superhero and a spy, Caroline Sharp wants to die but she can't due to her powers of immortality. As such, she is a deeply depressed person until an old acquaintance gives her a chance to achieve what she's been looking for. Carline may have finally found a way out, but to do so, she's got to destroy all life for all of eternity.
In the last issue (Issue#4), the history of Caroline and Madame Atom plays out, across five diffferent storylines across the multiverse, each parodizing a different style of comic, pulled off expertly by Liew. Caroline realizes that maybe she doesn't need to sacrifice everyone for her happiness. In the penultimate issue, Caroline walks between two planes of existence.
