The 1982 fantasy epic The Dark Crystal is beloved by fans, and for good reason — it featured some of the most stunning effects work ever conceived thanks to co-director Jim Henson’s particular set of puppet-related skills.
If you’ve ever wanted to take a deep dive into how Henson & Co. pulled off all that awesome puppet magic, Insight Editions is putting together The Dark Crystal: The Ultimate Visual History to break it all down with the fuzzy details. The collection will feature rare artwork, interviews, on-set photos and an in-depth look at the production with storyboards, production notes and even some of Henson’s own sketches that have survived the decades.
The book promises some rare, original material, having dug into Henson’s vault, plus some never-seen interviews with the cast and crew. The book hits shelves on the 35th anniversary of the iconic film, and is the perfect way to spend some time while waiting for Netflix’s revival series, Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance. We have some exclusive preview pages showing off just a few of the goodies in store.
The Dark Crystal: The Ultimate Visual History is set to hit shelves in September.
