Everyone needs a little love, even ghosts. And in DC’s spookiest new series, Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love, the publisher’s most acrobatic apparition finds himself caught up in a love triangle among the owners of an old mansion possessed by dark and malevolent forces. The book is a gothic romance, and both the horror and the love are brought to life with equal finesse by artist Lan Medina (Fables), whose art from the second issue we have an early peek at, exclusively for Blastr’s 31 Days of Halloween.

Medina’s lushly detailed pages are in stunning black and white here, and have yet to be colored or lettered, allowing us to really appreciate the classic horror comic vibe the artist is channeling. Just look at this expertly composed page of Deadman drifting through the mansion with another ghost:

DC’s fan-favorite phantom has never looked better. In addition to the early glimpse at the interior art, we also have a look at the beautifully moody cover painted by Stephanie Hans included in the gallery below. Here’s DC’s solicitation for the second issue of Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love:

The bimonthly miniseries continues! After Deadman and Adelia’s sudden disappearance, Berenice begins to unlock the mysteries of Glencourt Manor. With evil lurking around every corner, Berenice longs to confide in her boyfriend Nathan about what she has discovered, but she fears what he may think of her…instead, Berenice finds a sympathetic ear in Sam, who shows Berenice what it means to be a true friend.

The first issue of the fall’s most eerie series is in comic shops now, with the second 48-page issue dropping on Dec. 7, from Lan Medina and writer Sara Vaughan (Alex+Ada), and colored by José Villarubia. Be sure to pick up both atmospheric issues, and let us know what you think (or if you’ve ever been possessed by an ethereal circus performer) in the comments.
