It might not have the clout of Netflix or Hulu just yet, but YouTube is looking to double down on its original series line-up — and this sci-fi thriller could be the perfect complement to recent hit series Cobra Kai.
YouTube’s Premium video service is set to debut the full, 10-episode season of new series Origin on November 14. The show follows a cast of passengers on board a deep-space vessel headed for a faraway planet. This being a space thriller, the mission goes positively sideways, and the passengers are quickly thrust into a fight for survival. The series comes from a high-end sci-fi pedigree, with Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Event Horizon) behind the camera. The cast includes Harry Potter familiars Tom Felton and Natalia Tena, among others.
Our clip looks to come from early in the series’ run, before the terror begins. We get a walkthrough of a typical morning in deep space, from the living quarters to the common spaces, and beyond. YouTube certainly seems to be ramping things up from a production standpoint level, and a bit of deep-space terror could be a nice palate cleanser heading into the holiday season. Plus, it gets Anderson back in space all these years since Event Horizon. That alone is worth a glance.
