Just in time for Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel is relaunching the Avengers comic book next week with a new creative team: Jason Aaron and artist Ed McGuinness. But unlike many recent Avengers books, this lineup features three of the founding members: Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

Prior to the relaunch, the combined Avengers defeated the Challenger and the Grandmaster to restore Earth’s place in the cosmos, and they saved the planet once more. Now, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, and the original Thor have come together for a celebration and a reunion. And it’s been a long time since all three were in the same room.

In our exclusive preview pages from Avengers #1, McGuinness, inker Mark Morales, and colorist David Curiel depict the trio out of uniform in a rare moment when the world isn’t at stake.

Collectively, the trio are known as “The Big Three of the Avengers,” but Stark doesn’t seem to be too enthusiastic about getting the team back together. Here, the heroes briefly touch upon the reasons they’ve been separated for so long.

The Avengers have always reunited under dire circumstances. This time, Cap is trying to make a reunion happen before an emergency strikes.

When in doubt, always defer to the God of Thunder, even if he’s not quite the God he used to be.

Who will join the team? The cover gives away most of the new lineup: Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, She-Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Strange. But they may wish they had reinforcements when the Final Host of Celestials arrive to render a judgment on humanity.

Somehow, this all ties into Odin’s band of Prehistoric Avengers, and Loki will once again be making trouble for the team as well. The God of Mischief brought the original team together, so it’s only fitting for him to do it again.

Avengers #1 will go sale on Wednesday, May 2.
