During the events of Dark Nights: Metal, the assembled DC heroes essentially broke the universe. More specifically, they broke the Source Wall that was protecting the universe from previously unimagined threats. That’s why Brainiac kidnapped most of the heroes and villains in Justice League: No Justice. However, there were a few heroes who were left behind, either intentionally or not. And one of them was Green Arrow!
Next week’s Green Arrow Annual # 2 is going to be a No Justice tie-in story, as incoming series writers Julie & Shawna Benson and artist Carmen Carnero put Oliver Queen in one of the most difficult fights of his life. But first, he’ll have to get past Brick!
In our exclusive preview from the annual, we catch a glimpse of a weapon that may turn the tide in Green Arrow’s favor before jumping back to his battle with Brick.
Brick is fairly obscure among Green Arrow’s rogues’ gallery, but he is one of the few bad guys who combines brains and brawn. That’s not enough to get Brick on the A-list of villainy, but he can more than hold his own against Oliver Queen’s alter ego. That said, the current threat to the world is far beyond the scope of either man.
Naturally, Oliver assumes that Brainiac’s ship is simply collecting metahumans. He’s going to be very disappointed.
Now this is a mismatch of epic proportions. Even Superman would be hard pressed to stop Brainiac’s ship. Green Arrow is completely out of his league, and he can’t even reach any of his teammates for help.
When Green Arrow eventually makes his way out of this situation, he’ll be meeting up with Amanda Waller, the leader of the Suicide Squad. This time, Waller may be the only person that Green Arrow can turn to, even if her methods will make him question whether he’s on the right side.
Green Arrow Annual #2 will be released on Wednesday, May 30.
