Harley has a few surprises up her sleeve in the latest installment of her comic, dropping this Wednesday. But she might also be the one in for a shocker when the Unconquerable 25 group of assassins is hired to take her out in this oversized anniversary issue.

But that threat may be nothing compared to the ire of The Joker in Part 9 of the Classic Harley back-up story, "Harley Loves Joker."

Published by DC Comics, Harley Quinn #25 is available Aug. 9, 2017. It is written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner -- with a back-up story by Pamiotti and Paul Dini. It also features art by Chad Hardin; back-up art is by J. Bone and Bret Blevins; the cover is by Conner and variant cover by Frank Cho.

In the exclusive preview below, you can get an early peek at the new danger heading Harley's way, as well as her entire Harleyverse crew gathering to celebrate the birthday of cyborg senior citizen Sy Borgman.

But as if a sneak preview isn't enough, writer Jimmy Palmiotti joined us for a quick round of three questions to tell you why this is the issue to pick up, what his favorite part of the book is, and how it sets up a larger Harley special in 2018.

Set up the action in this issue, and why it’s one to pick up.

Jimmy Palmiotti: For a couple of obvious reasons, the book has extra pages, since it's the 25th issue of Harley Rebirth. It features almost all the supporting characters in the Harleyverse, and we wrap up the back-up classic Harley story this issue. This two-part story also sets up the storyline running through the fall, where Harley has had enough with the Mayor of New York and is putting herself into the business of politics: Harley style.

What is your favorite panel/page/line in this issue?

Palmiotti: Well, since Chad Hardin is drawing the issue, almost every single page is my favorite. But If I have to pick one, it would be the title splash where Harley walks into the surprise party thrown for her and we see the entire supporting cast ready to party. I also love the appearance of Power Girl, and how that happens. I think my favorite line is between Poison Ivy and Harley, but I would rather you found what it is, so as not to ruin the story.

Tease how this might set up the next issue.

Palmiotti: Harley and her crew come under the assault from the Unconquerable 25, and by the end of the issue we see them all separated and dealing with the assassins using each of their particular skills. That’s a blast in itself, but the back-up by Paul Dini, Brett Blevins, J. Bone, and Alex Sinclair is simply beautiful to behold. We also get to see some tender moments between the Joker and Harley and a tease of what, in the future, is the thing that divides them. This story will be continued in separate specials coming in 2018.
