Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but Spider-Man is no more! Or more accurately, Spider-Man managed to muck up his own timeline and create a world where the young Peter Parker gave up his webs and embraced life as a tech billionaire. He’s also married to Gwen Stacy in this timeline. That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? Oh, it’s far worse than “bad.” Norman Osborn is the President, and he’s eliminated almost every superhero in the world. He’s also fully aware that the young Peter used to be Spider-Man.
Next week, writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Adam Kubert will continue the “No More” storyline in Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #305. And in our exclusive preview, the Peter Parker of this timeline realizes he’s made a horrible mistake that may endanger his wife.
Back when he was still flying around as the Infamous Iron Man, Doctor Doom sent Spider-Man; his sister, Teresa Parker; and J. Jonah Jameson back to the past to prevent an alien race from decimating the Earth. In the new timeline, Doom is an enemy of Osborn’s state and he was locked away in a prison cell. Now, Doom is their only hope of undoing this timeline, if they can still trust him.
Jonah has some pretty big regrets about this whole adventure. He started the horrific changes to this timeline when he told his younger self who Spidey really was. And now that Jonah has seen what a world without Spider-Man really looks like, he’s finally realized just how wrong he was to attack in the press for years.
Note that the Captain America of this timeline is also rocking an Infinity War-style beard. But Cap has always had a way with pep talks, and he may have just helped Jonah discover a new purpose in life.
Neither Spider-Man nor the other Peter Parker will be able to avoid a confrontation with Osborn before they try to fix the past. And Gwen may end up in the crossfire no matter what the two Peters do.
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #305 will be released on Wednesday, June 16.
