Before Secret Empire, Deadpool had everything that he ever wanted: a loving wife, a daughter with endless potential, recognition as a superhero, and even a place among the Uncanny Avengers. However, the merc has proven to be the architect of his own destruction, even when had the best of intentions...
Months ago, Deadpool was forced to turn to Cable's evil clone, Stryfe, for an emergency cure after Madcap infected his family with a deadly virus. To pay back the debt, Stryfe ordered Deadpool take four lives. And the next person on Stryfe's hit list is Evan Sabahnur, the young clone of Apocalypse!
Next week's Despicable Deadpool #295 will pick up shortly after Deadpool got his revenge on Madcap, only to realize that he had already lost everything thanks to his own actions. But writer Gerry Duggan and artist Scott Koblish aren't done torturing Wade Wilson yet. Stryfe may have chosen Evan because he's potentially fated to become the next Apocalypse. However, Deadpool went to great lengths to save Evan's life and his soul to keep that from happening. He actually cares about Evan, and that only compounds the tragedy.
To fulfill his debt to Stryfe, Deadpool has already killed a future version of Cable, as well as Irene Merryweather, a woman who was once a friend to both Cable and Deadpool. Deadpool really liked Irene, and he may have even had a crush on her. But that wasn't enough to stop him, which is really bad news for Evan. Especially since Deadpool has seemingly found a way to negate Evan's powers.
Evan's such a good soul that he initially thinks that Deadpool's latest actions are his own fault, because of the monster that he might someday become. And it looks like Evan's going to need some help to get out of this alive, because Deadpool doesn't have much mercy left after his fall from grace.
The Despicable Deadpool #295 will be released on Wednesday, February 28.
