A new super team of women is hitting comic book stands this December in the form of the sci-fi series Grave Lilies, from best-selling comic writer Cullen Bunn, and artist George Kambadais -- and Blastr has the first look.
The first superhero title from Z2 Comics, the Joss Whedon-esque Grave Lilies, follows the story of five mysterious women as they emerge from stasis tubes in the aftermath of a devastating explosion. With no memory of who they are, these women are unscathed, and each develop strange new powers -- "the ability to charm the masses, the power to control plant life, the gift of healing, supernatural senses, and unbelievable physical strength" -- according to a Z2 press release. And those powers will come in handy to evade a shadowy organization hot on their trail.
“Grave Lilies is a super-powered mystery story I've been excited to tell for a while now," said creator Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Harrow County). "Five young women with supernatural powers. Shadowy government agencies. Conspiracies within conspiracies ... I love these characters. I love the sense of action, adventure, and fun in this series. And I love the dark (dare I say apocalyptic) truths that are going to be uncovered as the story progresses.”
Though it doesn't hit stands until Dec. 7, 2016, you should check out our exclusive preview of four pages from Grave Lilies #1 below, and get to know your newest super women.
