Be prepared for a blazing bolt of scarlet cool in this new fine art lithograph from the astonishing talent of Alex Ross showcasing DC Comics' The Flash.
Following hot on the heels of Ross' Origins: Superman offering back in June, this electrifying new release titled, Origins: Flash is set to streak into your collection starting Tuesday, September 4. It's a brilliant fine art matted lithograph exclusively available through Alex Ross Art and depicts the classic origin story of the Flash, beginning with the instant where lightning strikes and causes a chemical spill and explosion in Barry Allen's forensic lab.
This bold, prestige-format print is hand-numbered, signed by Ross, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. The Barry Allen Flash was created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino and made his first appearance in DC Comics' Showcase #4 back in 1956.
"I've been a fan of the Flash for years, and I was one of those fan-creators who was always pushing to get the original Barry Allen Flash back," Ross explained. "I always wanted to get that identity back to the character — the simplicity of his concept and design."
The dynamic, emotional illustration originally appeared in 2002's JLA: Secret Origins. Here, Ross takes fans on a striking visual journey through the beginning stages of the Silver Age Flash. DC's iconic character is one of the founding members of the Justice League of America and Ross traces the evolution of the Central City crusader in his unmistakable realistic style, highlighting Flash's humanity and his distinctive costume made of real fabric.
Origins: Flash will be available in two separate offerings: a Standard Release for $50 or an Artist's Proof Signed Edition for $150. They are sized at 14 1/2" x 15 1/2" and come carefully matted on foam core in an edition size of 100 for the regular release, and just 25 for the Artist's Proof.
Both editions will be available at Alex Ross Art on Tuesday, September 4 at 3PM ET and customers are highly encouraged to join the wait list. Will you sprint in and secure one for your collection?
