Robotech’s last issue ended with a major, game-changing showstopper (don’t worry; we’re not here to spoil it!), and fans have been chewing their fingernails ever since, awaiting the release of Robotech Issue #5.

SYFY WIRE’s here to tide you over with an exclusive glimpse at what’s in store for the next installment, which releases December 13.

Feast your eyes on the first five pages of Robotech Issue #5, which takes another big step in Titan’s ambitious reboot of the venerable 1980s series pitting Earth against technologically superior alien invaders. As this preview suggests, it looks like Lisa Hayes  — make that Captain Lisa Hayes — has her hands full from the drop … and it couldn’t come at a more adverse time for the members of the SDF-1.

Comic book legend Tommy Yune, the creative director for Harmony USA, is giving Brian Wood, Simon Furman, and the rest of the creative team his unreserved seal of approval — a good sign, since Yune probably knows more than anybody about all that’s sacred in Robotech’s deep lore.

"Titan is presenting a fresh new take on the Robotech universe, incorporating elements of the roadmap envisioned by original producer Carl Macek,” Yune said in a statement to SYFY WIRE. “We definitely look forward to the twists and turns that new series writer Simon Furman has up his sleeve for all of us!”

From what we’ve seen so far, it’s clear that Titan has a plan in place for re-imagining the Robotech mythos for a new generation of readers. Issue #5 looks set to give us our biggest taste yet of just where it all will lead.
