Marvel's new Spider-Man video game released last week exclusively for Sony's PS4 platform is garnering some highly enthusiastic reviews for its fluid gameplay, stunning cinematic visuals, deep emotional content, and fantastic worldbuilding, with some critics and fans instantly labeling it as the best game of the year!
To further immerse Spidey fans and fervent gamers deep into the creative process that resulted in Insomniac Games' amazing digital playground, London-based Titan Books has just released Spider-Man: The Art of the Game.
Written by Paul Davies (The Art of Horizon Zero Dawn, The Art of Halo 4), this breathtaking 192-page hardback is fortified with hundreds of exclusive full-color images of Spider-Man; his Spidey suit and crime-fighting equipment; the trusted allies he relies on, like MJ Watson and Aunt May; and the rogues gallery of dastardly villains he confronts. This treasure of never-seen concept material is accompanied by exclusive insights into the entire developmental process from the talented team of writers, artists, illustrators, and designers responsible for bringing Spider-Man’s colorful world to full, vivid life.
"Working with Insomniac on Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Art of the Game was as inspiring as it was rewarding," Davies told SYFY WIRE. "Art director Jacinda Chew could not have been more giving of her time. Insights from lead character artist Gavin Goulden helped enormously toward asking the right sorts of questions across the whole studio. Creative director Bryan Intihar had me close to tears with his genuine passion for the project over Skype. We had ‘amazing’ support too from the Marvel Games team: Bill Rosemann lives and breathes his work, while art director Tim Tsang painted a fascinating bigger picture. It’s all in the book, you should buy at least one copy."
