Let’s have a show of hands. Who here has already binged the entire seven-episode third season of Voltron: Legendary Defender? Yeah. Me too. There was no way I was going to be able to make it past this weekend without seeing most if not all of it, but there’s a chance that some of you were not as fortunate. So let me give you some warning before I introduce this clip. There are spoilers below, as well as potential spoilers discussed in the comments, as those who have seen the episode are sure to have an opinion and would like to talk about this clip or any of Season 3.
This is a clever tease of Season 3, Episode 4 (No. 28 overall), entitled “Hole in the Sky” and written by Tim Hedrick, where a distress call leads the team to suspect that Allura (voiced by Kimberly Brooks) and Coran (voiced by Rhys Darby) are not the only surviving Alteans. When they go to check it out, they run into someone who may or may not be the return of some old friends. Those who have seen this episode already know, but if you haven’t, turn out the lights and proceed at your own risk.
Now, in the opening of that scene, you’ll notice from that there’s a new paladin that has joined the others, which isn't a huge surprise, but the group is starting to look a lot like the original Voltron: Defender of the Universe. It’s a great teaser and the season, while abbreviated, is fabulous.
Feel free to discuss below whether you agree and what your favorite episode of Season 3 was. I thought the episode that followed this one, titled "The Journey," was my favorite. Don't worry, Season 4 is just around the corner in October, and if you haven't seen our exclusive interview with cast and co-executive producers from Comic-Con, then go here.
