Well, this is not the full trailer we were hoping for, but HBO has dropped a very intriguing teaser trailer for the eagerly anticipated Season 6 of Game of Thrones, coming hot on the heels of those awesome first promo images

Now, when we left off at the end of Season 5, things looked really dire for many of our favorite characters (this is Game of Thrones, after all). Here’s a (very) quick refresher of what happened:

Sansa and Theon jumped off the walls of Winterfell in a desperate bid to escape the clutches of the sadistic Ramsay Snow, Brienne having failed in her mission because Stannis; Arya went blind, punished for savagely killing Meryn Trant (although dude got it coming) and disobeying the Faceless Men; Cersei made her famous Walk of Shame stark naked; poor Myrcella died in Jaime’s arms after revealing she knew he was her father; Daenerys found herself surrounded by Dothraki after escaping her would-be assassins back in Meereen on Drogon’s back; Tyrion was put in charge of Meereen (yay!); Stannis is most likely dead because Brienne; Sam was sent to the Citadel to become a maester; and Jon Snow was (apparently) stabbed to death by his brothers of the Night’s Watch.

After being a no-show last year, Season 6 will see the return of Bran Stark (alongside the three-eyed raven); a long-awaited book favorite, Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk), will finally make his hotly anticipated debut; and the whole "Ermahgerd is Jon Snow really dead?!!!" mystery will be resolved.

But that mystery is far from being resolved here. On the contrary, the teaser takes us inside the creepy Hall of Faces in the House of Black and White, where we see the faces and hear the voices of the dead, including Ned, Robb, Catelyn, Joffrey and (who else?) Jon Snow. However, alongside the faces of the dearly (and not-so-dearly) departed, we also see the very familiar faces of some characters who were very much alive and kicking when we last saw them, including Tyrion, Sansa, Dany and Arya. Check it out:
