The Season 3 finale of Arrow practically gave everyone a happy ending. Oliver and Felicity (literally) drove off into the sunset, Thea and Laurel embraced their roles as protectors of Starling City, and Malcolm got what he always wanted -- absolute power.
Even though Oliver defeated Ra's al Ghul, he refused to take his place at Nanda Parbat. That honor went to Malcolm, who happily took the gig as leader of the League of Assassins. The last we saw of him, he was asserting his newfound authority over the deadly army. He really seemed at peace with his position. So, have we seen the last of Malcolm Merlyn? Nope!
According to his portrayer John Barrowman, Malcolm will be back on the scene in Season 4. While speaking at Las Vegas Comic-Con, the actor gave the audience an update on his Arrow status.
"We start filming [Season 4] in July, I just finalized my deal about a week ago … it was just about working out dates and stuff. I’m very excited about going back. I can’t tell you anything, because I do know a bit of what’s gonna happen, but if you love Malcolm Merlyn, if you love Oliver Queen, if you love Thea Queen, if you love the Canary sisters [cheering] … I say that with a bit of a twist and a joke, you’re gonna love what’s gonna happen across the DC world."
You can watch Barrowman's announcement below, starting at the 35-second mark.
Arrow returns this fall on The CW.
