We still don’t know what Zack Snyder has in store for the opening scene of Man of Steel, so some hardcore Superman fans decided to whip up their own establishing footage that could be used to kick off the reboot. Zack, we hope you’re ready, because these guys have set the bar pretty high.
Developed by the L.A.-based creative company Will & Tale, the clip is essentially a proof of concept to show their idea of a cold open for Man of Steel. The results are spectacular, and do a fantastic job of establishing the world in an exciting and fresh way.
They shot and rendered the entire clip themselves, and didn’t use footage from any other sources. Heck, if Man of Steel turns out to be a dud, we’d like to see what these guys could cook up for a full movie.
Here’s an excerpt from their blog, where they explain the creative process of making this meticulously awesome clip:
“The story we developed is a take on our favorite superhero, Superman. We created a narrative of news anchors and eyewitnesses highlighting major events throughout Clark Kent’s life. It was important to have Clark’s story told by the world and show how he has impacted the lives of others. Nothing in the video has been pulled from a video game or other movie footage. We created all the 2D/3D animations, compositing, articles, voiceover recordings, and more.”
We still have to wait until June 14 for Man of Steel to officially open, but this clip is a great way to whet our geeky appetites.
