Now this sound all kinds of sci-fi-psychedelia-awesome. Variety reports that Natalie Portman has signed on to voice and produce a new animated feature called Foxy Trotter, which tells the story of the titular character: a rock-and-roll photographer from the early ’70s on a mission to take the perfect rock photo.

Here comes the sci-fi bit: Portman is set to voice Foxy Trotter’s best friend, Ronnie, who ends up being used as a sacrifice to destroy the universe after she is seduced by a villain named Gunter.

It’s being pitched as somewhere between Barbarella and Sausage Party, and we’re so here for it.

In a statement to Variety, Bold Films’ Michel Litvak described the project as an "inventive, sexy, psychedelic, hilarious, female-oriented animated film," while director Chris Prynoski added: “Foxy Trotter is a wild mix of Barbarella meets Sausage Party meets Easy Rider.”

The premise sounds absolutely bonkers in the best way possible, and with the Oscar-winning talents of Portman on board, it certainly feels like a project worth keeping an eye on. Color us very excited.
