It's been 11 years since Farscape left the air, but it doesn't mean we've forgotten the crew of the Moya. In fact, daydreaming about John, Aeryn, D'argo, Chianna and Rygel constitutes the bulk of our workday. And we're about to have some epic daydreams: The rumors of a Farscape movie are not exaggerated. The late, great TV show will get a new chapter in the form of a television movie.
TV.com reports that the rumors of a made-for-TV movie were made official this weekend, at Wondercon. The movie will be created in the Jim Henson Creature Shop facility; directed by Brian Henson, who directed Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars and served as the show's executive producer; and written by Justin Monjo, who worked on Farscape as a scriptwriter, supervising producer and co-executive producer.
According to Tor.com,
Set to follow the awesome comics written by our favorite Keith R.A. DeCandido, the film would follow John and Aeryn's son, D'Argo (or Little D, as we always refer to him). Because their baby was exhibiting a set of interesting powers that made him a magnet for galactic villains, we find that John and Aeryn hide their son on Earth to grow up. Now the kid is 19 and ready to go into space with his parents.
The release date is as unknown as the fate of Furlow. But that means now is your chance to rewatch all four seasons, plus the miniseries that served as an abbreviated fifth season.
Never got to watch Farscape the first time around? It's about an astronaut, John Crichton, who finds himself stranded on the far side of the galaxy after stumbling across a wormhole. And as John searches for a way back, the galaxy's bad guys want the wormhole knowledge stored in his brain—and they don't care how they get it. It has an off-kilter humor, characters for whom the phrase "shades of gray" doesn't just refer to their morality, and Muppets.
Here's a taste.
