Contrary to previous reports, we may actually get a direct link between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy with the appearance of a certain cosmic, female Marvel character in Age of Ultron.
So, who’s this Marvel comic-book character rumored to link the two big Marvel flicks together? We’ll give you a tiny hint: She was voted #99 in the 2011 edition of Comics Buyer's Guide's “100 Sexiest Women in Comics” list.
Have you guessed her identity yet?
Well, according to the guys over at Schmoes Know, a source has revealed that the female character who may put in an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron will be Mantis. (Again, not official! Grain of salt, guys.)
Now, Mantis has a long and complicated history (plus, she had many aliases over the years) in the Marvel universe -- which comic-book character doesn’t have one, you’ll say, and you’d totally be right. But suffice it to say that she was both a member of the Avengers and of the Guardians of the Galaxy; that she fought against Klaw, Ultron and the Mad Titan himself, Thanos; and that she has ties to the Vision (for whom she had romantic feelings at one point), Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
Here’s what they said:
This would seem to make a lot of sense as she 1) has direct ties to Thanos, 2) has even stronger ties to Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, 3) has a personal vendetta in the comics against Klaw and, most importantly 4) has been a prominent member of both The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Could she actually be the mystery woman in the cave spotted in the last Age of Ultron trailer, even though she's bald?
Klaw has been confirmed as being the character played by Andy Serkis in Age of Ultron, so all of this kinda makes sense, especially since Marvel plans on bringing the Avengers and the Guardians together for Avengers: Infinity War. However, the site had no info as to how exactly the character would fit into all of this. There’s also no news as to who could be playing her.
What do you think about Mantis possibly popping up in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Do you think it would make sense?
